Tata Harrier Reaches Dealerships; Launch On 23rd January

Tata Harrier, the premium 5-seater SUV from the home-grown carmaker, is slated to go on sale on 23rd January, 2019. Prior to its official launch, the company has started dispatching the SUV to its dealerships across the nation. One can pre-book the vehicle by paying an initial sum of Rs 30,000.

Based on the H5X concept that was previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo, the Tata Harrier will take head-to-head against the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson. Under the hood, the Tata Harrier features a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine benefited with e-VGT technology with advanced EGR and after treatment system. This powertrain is essentially the Fiat-sourced Multijet diesel motor that does duty to the Jeep Compass. Initially, the SUV will be made available with a 6-speed manual gearbox only. It offers three driving modes – City, Eco and Sport, and the Terrain Response System with Normal, Rough and Wet modes. For performing suspension duties, the Tata Harrier gets an independent lower wishbones, McPherson strut up front and semi independent twist blade at the rear. Tata says that Harrier has been tested for 2.2M km on different terrains and weather conditions. The Tata Harrier has been designed on the OMEGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture) that’s developed jointly by Tata and Jaguar Land Rover. Designed to optimize rear seat legroom, this new platform is a derivative of Land Rover D8 architecture.
