Tata Harrier & New Maruti WagonR Set To Launch Tomorrow

Official bookings of both models have already been commenced across the nation.

Tomorrow (23rd January, 2019), we will witness the two big car launches of the year – Tata Harrier 5-seater premium SUV and new-generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR hatchback. Official bookings of both models have already been commenced across the nation, while deliveries will be commenced immediately after their launch.

Prices of the Tata’s all-new 5-seater SUV are likely to start from Rs 16 lakh and go up to Rs 21 lakh for the range-topping trim. The WagonR’s new-gen model will surely be slightly more expensive than the existing one. It’s estimated to be priced around Rs 4.50 lakh for the base variant and Rs 6.00 lakh for the top-spec model.

Talking about the Tata Harrier, the 5-seater SUV will be put up against the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson. It’s the brand’s first production car to feature the new-generation IMPACT design 2.0 language and OMEGA platform derived from the Land Rover Discovery Sport. For power, the Tata Harrier uses a BS6-ready 2.0L, four-cylinder Kryotec diesel engine that’s good for 140bhp and 350Nm of torque. Initially, the SUV carline will be made available with a 6-speed manual and FWD (front wheel drive) system only. 2019 Maruti Suzuki WagonR Picture Gallery

The second launch of the day will be the third-generation Maruti Suzuki WagonR that receives comprehensive changes inside and out. Besides this, the hatchback has ditched its existing platform for the new, lightweight HEARTECT architecture. It also aids to its overall performance and safety quotient. The new Maruti WagonR 2019 retains the 67bhp, 1.0L, three-cylinder petrol engine and transmissions – a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. The hatchback carline also gets the Swift’s 1.2L, four-cylinder petrol engine pushing out 82bhp with 115Nm of torque. While the LPG variant will be made available from day one, the CNG version will be introduced at a later stage.
