Tata Harrier JTP Performance SUV In The Works – Report

Tata Harrier JTP will get a more powerful engine along with tuned suspension setup and lower ground clearance.

In March 2017, Tata Motors and Jayem Automotive had announced a joint venture for special performance vehicles. The performance models produced under this partnership will come with JTP badge. The carmaker showcased the performance-oriented Tiago JTP hatchback and Tigor JTP sedan at the 2018 Auto Expo. Recently, a prototype of the Tata Harrier has been spotted wearing TN37 number plate at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.

Since Jayem Automotive has its headquarters in Coimbatore, it is supposed to be the Tata Harrier JTP model. However, there is no official word on the same. If Tata Harrier JTP is actually under development, it is likely to feature the same 2.0-litre diesel engine that will be used for the regular model. Though, it will be produce more power and deliver better performance. In order to enhance its capabilities, Tata will tune its suspension setup and lower its ground clearance. Tata Harrier (H5X) Picture Gallery

The Tata Harrier SUV was first previewed in its concept avatar as H5X at the Auto Expo in February, 2018. Pratap Bose, Head of Design, Tata Motors confirmed that the production ready version of the SUV will stay 85% true to its concept. The carmaker has confirmed that the Tata Harrier will see a release before March 2019. Reports suggest that Tata might showcase the production-ready version in November – i.e. near around Diwali. The company will also bring in the 7-seater Harrier that will be put against the upcoming Honda CR-V and Mahindra XUV700. Though, the 7-seater model will carry a different nameplate.
