Tata Harrier based 7-seater SUV is likely to arrive in the second half of 2019.

We informed you earlier that Tata is working on a new 7-seater SUV, which will be based on the upcoming Harrier SUV. Codenamed H7X, the new SUV has recently been caught testing on the Indian roads. The SUV will use the OMEGA platform that is sourced from the Land Rover’s D8 architecture. It will be the brand’s third model to feature the new IMPACT Design 2.0 Philosophy.

The Harrier 5-seater model is powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine, which is sourced from FCA. This engine is detuned to offer 140bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 7-seater Harrier will come with a more powerful version of this engine. It is likely to produce close to 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Recent media reports claim that the 5-seater model will only come with a manual gearbox option. On the flip side, the Harrier 7-seater SUV will come in both manual and automatic option.

The SUV will receive a new 6-speed automatic gearbox from Hyundai Tucson. It will challenge the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and the entry-level variants of Toyota Fortuner and the Mahindra Alturas.
