Tata Motors will unveil all-new 7-seater SUV, codenamed H7X, at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March. The 7-seater SUV is scheduled to be launched in the Indian market in the end of 2019. It will be the brand’s new OMEGA ARC platform that is derived from the Land Rover’s D8 architecture. The recently launched Harrier 5-seater SUV is the first model built on this platform.

The Tata H7X SUV has already been spotted multiple times on Indian roads. The global debut in Geneva suggests that this will be the brand’s global car. It will be powered by the same 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine that powers the 5-seater sibling. However, the 7-seater model will be more powerful. While powering the Harrier, this engine produces 138bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. It is expected that this engine will be tuned for H7X and could produce up to 180PS of power.

The Tata Harrier is available in single 6-speed manual gearbox with front-wheel-drive layout as standard. Media reports claim that the H7X will receive a six-speed automatic gearbox, which will be sourced with Hyundai. Moreover, the H7X could also receive the all-wheel-drive layout. Likely to be priced in the range of Rs 15 lakh – Rs 22 lakh, the H7X SUV will challenge the likes of Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector and the Honda CR-V. The Tata H7X will share the same wheelbase with the Harrier, which is 2,741mm. However, the length of the SUV will be increased by 62mm to create more space inside the cabin. The SUV will have longer rear overhangs and is expected to measure 4,660mm in length. The Harrier is 4,598mm in length. While most of the styling elements will be shared with the Harrier, it will come with new C-pillars, bigger glass area, new fog lamps, LED daytime running lights, larger side air vents, new skid plate and pronounced wheel arches.
