The Tata H7X 7-seater SUV will receive the more powerful version of the 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Tata is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian car market. The company plans to move its all products to 2 platforms – OMEGA and Alpha. In fact, the new-generation models of the existing products will be based on these two platforms. The first model to be based on the OMEGA platform – Harrier – will go on sale in January 2019, while the first Alpha based car – 45X based premium hatchback will be launched in late 2019. What’s interesting is that Tata is also working on a 7-seater version of the Harrier, codenamed H7X. This model has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. – Basically a 7-seater Harrier

Codenamed H7X, the 7-seater SUV is basically the 7-seater version of the Harrier SUV. It is built on the OMEGA ARC modular platform, which is sourced from the Land Rover’s D8 architecture. More Powerful Diesel Engine

The Harrier 5-seater SUV is powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine, which is sourced from Jeep Compass. While powering the Harrier, this engine will produce 140bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. However, the 7-seater Harrier will have the same engine with higher power and torque. It is expected to offer 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque.

– Automatic Gearbox

The Tata Harrier will arrive in a manual version only. However, media reports claim that the 7-seater model will be offered in manual and automatic option. – All-Wheel-Drive

While the Harrier will only be offered in front-wheel-drive layout, the 7-seater Harrier will come in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive layout. The SUV is also likely to have terrain response system along with multi-drive modes.

– Position Between Mahindra XUV500 & Toyota Fortuner

In terms of pricing, the Tata Harrier’s 7-seater model will be positioned somewhere between the Mahindra XUV500 and Toyota Fortuner. The SUV is likely to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh. While the base & mid-level variants will rival the Mahindra XUV500, the top-spec model will challenge the entry-level Toyota Fortuner.
