Tata H2X Concept Is 70-80% Production-Ready Model : Pratap Bose

Tata H2X concept is likely to preview the Tata Hornbill mini SUV.

Tata H2X subcompact SUV concept was the showstopper for the company at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Talking to TimeDrives, Pratap Bose, Head of Design, Tata Motors, confirmed that the showcased concept is “about 70-80% ready to go into production”. While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed name and details of the vehicle, the concept is likely to preview the Tata Hornbill mini SUV.

The near production version of the Tata H2X subcompact SUV is likely to debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. Its launch might happen by the end of 2020 or early 2021. Featuring the brand’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy, the Tata H2X shares its Alfa modular platform with the Altroz premium hatchback. The overall length, width and height of the mini SUV concept stand at 3840mm, 1822mm and 1635mm respectively. It sits on a 2450mm long wheelbase, which is 51mm shorter than the Altroz hatch.

The Tata H2X concept features boxier and upright stance along with elements such as large headlamps, functional upper and lower grille, flared wheel arches and small wheels. Interior of the new Tata subcompact SUV looks quite futuristic. Some of its highlights include twin 10.2-inch screens for infotainment system and display instrumentation, Tata’s tri-arrow design on the tactile surfaces and removable Bluetooth speakers on the doors.
