Tata Motors is all set to launch Nano diesel and power-steering equipped Nano Twist in India very soon

The home-grown automajor Tata Motors that launched the Nano emax CNG in the market earlier this year, is now planning to launch two new versions of the car- a power-steering equipped Nano ‘Twist’ and Nano diesel. The power-steering equipped Nano ‘Twist’ will be the first of the two to enter the market on January 13th, while the Nano diesel will be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo in February. However, the launch will happen later.

The Tata Nano Twist will employ a ZF-sourced electric steering and will be sold at Rs 15,000 more price over the standard model. The company will also sell non- electronic power steering (EPS) version simultaneously. The diesel version on the other hand will have a 2-cylinder, 800cc, common-rail diesel engine, capable of churning out a maximum power output of 40bhp at 4000rpm. This engine is likely to return a fuel economy of over 35kmpl, which will make it country’s most fuel efficient car. The Nano diesel is likely to priced around Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom), which will make it about a lakh pricier than the base petrol variant.

The two-cylinder 800cc diesel engine is the same powering Tata Ace Dicor but without a turbocharger. In the case of Nano diesel, this powertrain will have a turbocharger. Other Tata vehicle to be unveiled at the Indian Auto Expo is New Tata Indica Vista aka Falcon 4.
