India’s biggest auto carnival – Auto Expo 2018 will surely be action-packed with a handful of new models from different car manufacturers. We will see some of the most existing products rolling out from Tata Motors. Besides unveiling a range of all-new products, the Pune-based carmaker will display its first-ever sportscar – Tamo Racemo and ‘connected’ C-Cube concept hatchback. Both these models will come under Tata’s sub-brand – Tamo – which was launched early this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Upcoming Tata Cars at Auto Expo 2018

1. Tata X451

Currently, Tata is working on a premium hatchback to rival the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20. Codenamed Tata X451, the new hatch will be designed on a new AMP (Advance Modular Platform). Interestingly, this new vehicle will have design inputs from JLR (Jaguar Land Rover) along with comprehensive efforts of Tata’s Pune, Italy and UK based design studios.

No design and feature details of the X451 have been revealed yet. Though, it is likely to share some its interior styling bits with the Nexon.  The new Tata hatchback might come with projector headlamps, DRLs or turn blinkers, prominent wheel arches and plastic cladding around the body. Cabin could be loaded with some advanced connectivity features such an infotainment system with touchscreen display and navigation. Reports in media suggest that Tata X451 might come with a range of all-new 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engine options. 2. Tata Q501

Tata Q501 premium SUV will be one of the much-awaited Tata cars at Auto Expo 2018. While the carmaker hasn’t made anything official about the car, reports suggest that it has received financial approval from the company. Similar to the X451 hatchback, the Q501 will be designed with joint efforts of JRL and Tata’s three design studios. Furthermore, this premium SUV will use the Land Rover Discover Sport platform.

Sporting Tata’s new-generation design language, the Q501 will stand on a high ground clearance and have masculine body built. Further enhancing its off-road capabilities, Tata might introduce high water wading capacity on the SUV. It might come with 5-seat and 7-seat layout options. With aggressive pricing, the Tata Q501 will lock horns against the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. Read More

3. Tata Q502/Merlin

2018 Auto Expo might also witness one more premium SUV from the Pune-based carmaker. The latest reports claims that the all-new Tata Q502 SUV could be christened as Merlin in India. It will be the 5-seater version of the Q501, and could be introduced as a replacement to the Safari Strome. However, no official confirmation has been made on the same. Just like its bigger sibling, the Q502 (Tata Merlin) will underpin the Land Rover Discover platform and share most of its styling elements with the Q501. The car will stand on a high ground clearance, and could be offered with high water wading capacity and Land Rover Terrain Response system.

Power for the new Tata SUV will come from a 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine paired to a manual and automatic gearbox. The same engine does duty in the Jeep Compass.  Power and torque figure of the motor stand at 170bhp and 350Nm. Drivetrain duties will be taken care of by AWD and RWD system. 4. Tata Mid-size Sedan

It’s no secret that Tata is working on a mid-size sedan that will go up against the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna. Speculations are on rife that the carmaker might unveil the concept avatar of its mid-size sedan at the Auto Expo 2018. This new saloon will be based on the brand’s Advance Modular Platform (AMP). Most of the design and styling cues could be carried over from the Nexon compact SUV. Being a premium sedan, it is expected to be loaded with high-tech comfort and safety features.

Engine setup for the upcoming Tata sedan might include a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and an all-new 1.5-litre diesel. The former will deliver a power close to 89bhp with 140Nm of torque, and the latter one will produce 108bhp with 260Nm of torque. Transmission choices could be a 6-speed manual and an automatic. With this all-new product the Pune-based carmaker will mark its entry in the growing premium mid-size sedan segment. Therefore, it will be one of the important upcoming Tata cars at Auto Expo 2018.

5. Tata Tiago Electric

Tiago hatchback is the game changer for Tata Motors. In order to keep up its sales momentum, the home-grown carmaker is planning to bring in an AMT and electric version of the hatchback. Rumour has that the Tata Tiago electric will enter production towards the end of August 2017. However, it will initially serve the export markets only. As of now, no technical specifications and details are available. According to some previous reports, Tata will use the hatchback’s low-cost platform for its electrifications. 6. Tamo Racemo

Tamo Racemo will be a big bet from Tata Motors at the 2018 Auto Expo. This will be the first sportscar from the carmaker’s sub-brand – Tamo. It will also be India’s first connected car loaded with Microsoft India’s advanced in-cabin connectivity features. All these facts make it one of the highly-anticipated Tata Cars at the Auto Expo 2018. The Racemo will feature an advanced navigation, remote monitoring, predictive maintenance and over-the-air updates built on Microsoft’s cloud-based technologies.

Built on Tata’s IMPACT design language, the Tamo Racemo sportscar will derive its power from a 1.2-litre turbocharged intercooled Revotron engine generating 186bhp and 210Nm of torque. This motor will be linked to a 6-speed AMT gearbox, and is claimed to accelerate 0-100kmph in 6 seconds. 7. Tamo C Cube

Tata’s sub-brand Tamo might also showcase its C-Cube hatchback concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. First previewed at the 2017 Future Decoded event in Mumbai, the Tamo C-Cube might share its platform with the Tiago. Featuring projector headlights with LED DRLs, Hexa-inspired grille, bold shoulder creases and O.Z alloy wheels, the hatchback looks quite sporty. The Tamo C-Cube will use the company’s unique interface application and Microsoft-enabled functionalities. Not much known about its engine specifications and other details. Read More
