Tata Bolt launches in September; spied again

Tata Bolt and Zest sedan are the two most important launches for the homegrown automaker. Tata Motors aims to revive its lost market share in the growing Indian auto industry. While the Zest compact sedan launch slated to August, the Bolt will follow in September. The company has been testing the Zest and Bolt hatchback in different places of the country, and one such test mule of Bolt has been spotted undergoing testing in Rajasthan. We only managed to click the rear side of the hatchback, which was fully covered. This model gets newly designed taillights, which completely different from the tree arrangement available on Vista. Unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the Bolt hatchback is based on the thoroughly modified X1 platform. It will take on the likes of Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and others. The vehicle looks more aggressive and sportier than the Vista hatchback. It features an aggressive front with carved bumper, new grille with familiar Tata emblem, stretched headlamps with integrated projectors. Its short C-pillar gives it a floating roofline effect.

The Tata Bolt hatchback will come in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol version hosts 1.2-litre Revotron engine producing 85PS and 140Nm of torque, the oil burner gets the 1.3-litre engine producing 75PS and 190Nm of torque. Both the engines will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox, while the diesel version is expected to get AMT as well.
