Tata Blackbird – A New Render Of Compact SUV
We have reported earlier that Tata Motors is planning to bring in a compact SUV (codenamed ‘Tata Blackbird’) to challenge Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Nissan Kicks in India. Rumour has it that Tata’s Alfa and Omega platforms aren’t compatible for a mid-size SUV, therefore the company might introduce the re-badged Chery Tiggo 5X.
Besides carrying a new nameplate, the Chery Tiggo 5X for India might receive minor design and feature changes. While the official pictures and details of the Tata Blackbird are yet to be revealed, a latest digital rendering shows us a possible design.
The Tata Blackbird SUV will feature the new Impact 2.0 Design philosophy along with elements such as large headlamps with LED DRLs (daytime running lights), a slimmer grille with 3D Humanity line, tri arrow shaped fog lamps, prominent wheel arches, a sloping roofline and slimmer tail lamps. For power, the Blackbird might use slightly tweaked version of the Nexon’s 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine. The SUV lineup could also be offered with a diesel (1.5L) and an electric powertrain. As far as launch is concerned, Tata Blackbird might see a release sometime in 2021.
