Tata Altroz XT Variant Gets Automatic AC Unit

Tata Motors has silently given a feature upgrade to the Altroz XT variant without changing its prices. Now, the Tata Altroz XT trim is available with automatic climate control earlier which was reserved for the top-end XZ and XZ (O) variants. The mid-spec XT variant of the premium hatchback comes loaded with a 7.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a 7.0-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, cruise control, push button start, rear camera display, Idle start-stop and LED DRLs. It can be had with the factory-fitted Luxe Pack worth Rs 40,000. The accessory package includes body-coloured wing mirrors, rear fog lamp, rear centre armrest, contrast black roof, driver seat height adjust and leather wrapped steering wheel and gear lever.

Engine setup of the Tata Altroz includes the BS6-compliant 86hp/113Nm 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 90hp/200Nm 1.5-litre diesel motors. Both units can be had with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In coming months, the carmaker will introduce a new dual-clutch automatic transmission on the hatchback lineup.

Compared to the existing AMT (automatic manual transmission), the new DCT unit will more refined and efficient. The carmaker will source the new automatic gearbox from Punch. Besides a new automatic gearbox, the premium hatchback will receive a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine. The new motor will deliver power around 99bhp and 141Nm of torque.

In other news, the home-grown carmaker has pushed the Tata Gravitas 6/7-seater SUV launch to the next year. Earlier, it was slated to launch during 2020 festive season. Based on the Omega Arc platform, the SUV will use the 2.0L turbo diesel engine making power worth 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. There will be two gearboxes on offer – a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
