Tata Altroz Engines

Tata Motors will officially launch the much-awaited Altroz premium hatchback in the country on January 22, 2019. Interested buyers can pre-book the premium hatchback by paying a sum of Rs 21,000. This hatchback will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz.

The Tata Altroz also marks the debut of brand’s new ALFA modular platform, which will also underpin the future cars measuring below 4.3 meters in length. Adding to it, the next gen Nexon, Tiago and Tigor will also be based on this platform. It will be made available in 5 trim levels – XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ (O). The new hatchback will be offered in 5 exterior paint schemes – Avenue White, Downtown Red, Skyline Silver, Midtown Grey and Highstreet Gold.

The hatchback will be offered with 2 BSVI compliant engines – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel. While the former is capable of producing 84PS and 113Nm of torque, the oil burner is good for 90PS and 200Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Tata Motors is also working on the petrol automatic version of the hatchback, which will receive a newly developed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It is expected that the turbocharged version of the Altroz will get the DCT gearbox. The hatchback is reportedly to get a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine, which is likely to produce around 102bhp of power.
