Tata Altroz EV Launch

Tata Altroz will come with 3 engine options – Tiago’s 1.2L petrol ,Nexon’s 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel.

Tata Altroz premium hatchback recently made its world debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Based on the Alfa platform, the Altroz will carry the second-generation Impact 2.0 Design philosophy.  While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed engine details of the vehicle, a latest report claims that it will come with three powertrain options (two petrol and a diesel).

The entry-level variant of the Tata Altroz will feature the Tiago’s 85bhp, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine. Though, this three-cylinder motor will have additional balance shafts that will increase engine friction and enhance its refinement and NHV levels. However, the power and mileage figures of the petrol powertrain could be slightly trimmed down. One must note that the Tata Altroz is around 15kg lighter than the Tiago hatchback. Read – Tata Buzzard 7-Seater SUV Is Coming This Year

The higher trims of the Tata Altroz will come with Nexon’s 1.2L turbocharged petrol and 1.5L diesel engine options. Though, both powertrains will deliver slightly lower power and torque outputs. While the gasoline unit will deliver around 102bhp, the oil burner will return 140Nm. This will make it around 12bhp less powerful and 30Nm less torqueier than the Nexon that makes 114bhp and 170Nm. Read: Tata Blackbird SUV Under Development; Details Revealed

The diesel version with a 1.5L motor will develop a maximum power of 90bhp, which is 20bhp less than the Nexon.
