Tata Altroz Racer Edition Revealed – Key Features, Specs, Images

Tata Motors has one of the most existing pavilions at the 2023 Auto Expo. The carmaker showcased the new Harrier EV, Sierra EV along with the Curvv and Avinya EV concepts. The company has also displayed the new and more powerful variant of the Altroz hatchback. Called the Tata Altroz Racer, the model has been packed with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox (sourced from the Nexon subcompact SUV). The motor churns out a peak power of 120bhp and 170Nm of torque.

Here, the new Tata Altroz Racer variant will take directly on the Hyundai i20 N Line that comes with the 1.0L turbo petrol unit. Hyundai’s gasoline unit has been tuned for generating power worth 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. It comes with two gearbox options – a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT automatic. The hatchback’s Racer Edition is likely to be as powerful as the i20 N-Line.

Visually, the new Altroz Racer looks slightly different from the standard model. It has been painted in dual-tone Red and Black colour scheme. On the exterior, the new variant features a slightly different front bumper, newly-designed alloy wheels, body decals and the ‘Racer’ badging. Inside the cabin, the hatchback’s sportier model has new upholstery and ‘Racer’ badging.

Some of key features include a 7.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, cruise control, push button start, rear camera display, idle start-stop, a 7.0-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, rear centre armrest, driver seat height adjust, leather wrapped steering and gear lever, rear parking assist, ambient lighting for diver’s footwell, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, central locking and rear fog lamp.

At the mega automotive event, the home-grown automaker unveiled the CNG version of the Altroz hatchback. The company will also bring in the Tata Altroz EV that will be boosted with the brand’s updated Ziptron technology. It consists of a permanent magnet AC motor. It transmits power to the front wheels via single-speed gearbox. The electric hatchback is likely to offer a range between 250km – 300km on a single charge. Its battery pack can be charged up to 80 percent in 60 minutes by using DC fast charger.
