Tata Altroz hatchback spied undisguised; launch within few months

The Tata Altroz premium hatchback is based on the new modular and scalable ALFA Arc platform.

Tata Motors had unveiled the much-awaited Altroz premium hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The hatchback is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2019, most probably July-August. The production-ready model was spotted undisguised, which shows the final design. It is basically the production version of the 2018 45X concept that debuted at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo.

With this Altroz hatchback, Tata Motors will debut the new modular and scalable ALFA Arc platform. This platform will be used to develop cars measure between 3.7 meters and 4.3 meters. The production version of the H2X micro SUV and an all-new 5-seater premium SUV will be based on this platform. The Tata Altroz will be the brand’s second model to feature IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN Language.

In terms of proportions, the Tata Altroz is 3,988mm in length, 1,754mm in width and 1,505mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,501mm. The Altroz design highlights include signature Tata’s grille with ‘Humanity Line’, slim headlamps with LED daytime running lights, piano black wing mirrors and chrome finish around the grille. The cabin of the Tata Altroz features a 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a TFT instrument console, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, etc. The hatchback gets cruise control, up to 4 airbags, ABS with EBD, parking assist and rear sensors with camera.

The Tata Altroz hatchback will be available with 3 engine options – a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol from Tiago, a 100bhp, 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 108bhp, 1.5-litre diesel. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed AMT. It is also expected that the Altroz could also get a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
