Tata Altroz EV Spotted In India For The First Time

Tata Altroz EV, the electric iteration of the upcoming Altroz premium hatchback, was recently caught testing in Pune. It’s the very first time, the prototype of the electric hatchback found running on the Indian roads.

The home-grown carmaker has already confirmed that it will bring 4 new electric models (including Altroz EV) in India in the next 12 to 18 months.

Similar to the regular model, the Tata Altroz EV will be based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture that’s compatible to different body styles. This scalable platform has been developed to employ electric powertrains as well.

The Tata Altroz EV could be the company’s second production model to use Ziptron electric technology that will debut on the Nexon EV. Tata’s new electric engine has high voltage system that consists of a permanent magnet AC motor along with a regenerative braking system.

The carmaker claims that the Ziptron will offer ‘zippy performance’, long driving range and posses fast charging capabilities. Its battery pack will come with 8 years of warranty and have IP67 dust and waterproof safety rating. The Tata Altroz EV is likely to offer range of up to 250-300km on a single charge. Exterior design and styling of the Tata Altroz EV will be exactly similar to the regular model. In fact, interior layout and features will also be carried over from the petrol and diesel-powered Altroz. The electric iteration of the hatchback is estimated to be priced between Rs 10 lakh – Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
