Tata Altroz diesel engine to offer 93PS of power and 210Nm of torque.

Tata Motors will launch the much-anticipated Altroz premium hatchback in the second half of 2019, most probably around August-September. A new Team-BHP report claims that the Altroz hatchback will be offered with diesel engine only. Though, the petrol version will be launched on a later stage. This development comes in the middle of talks of the upcoming BSVI emission norms and rising demand for petrol cars in India.

The Tata Altroz hatchback will be powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine that powers the Nexon. The report claims that the detuned version of this engine will power the Altroz. While powering the Nexon, this engine produces 110PS and 260Nm. However, the engine in the Altroz will offer 93PS of power and 210Nm of torque. Tata had showcased the Altroz petrol and Altroz EV versions at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The petrol version was equipped with a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine that is capable of producing 102PS of power at 5,500rpm and 140Nm of torque between 1,750-4,000rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Previous media reports claim that the company is also working on a dual-clutch automatic gearbox to power the Altroz. The Tata Altroz will mark the debut of brand’s new Alfa (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform, which will also underpin the upcoming H2X mini SUV and the Blackbird 5-seater SUV. It is the second Tata car to feature the new IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN Language. The hatchback will share the interior with the Nexon compact SUV, featuring a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, LED Headlamps and tail-lamps, etc. The Tata Altroz will directly rival the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and the Honda Jazz.
