Tata Altroz DCT Turbo Spotted; Launch Next Week On 13th Jan

Tata Altroz turbo-petrol will be the first launch from the home-grown carmaker in 2021. Official prices of the new model will be announced on coming 13th January. Prior to that, select dealers have started accepting bookings at an initial sum of Rs 5,000. In fact, the Altroz turbo was recently spotted during its TVC shoot in Goa. The spied model is said to be equipped with a new DCT (dual-clutch transmission) gearbox that will also be introduced on other Tata compact cars.

The carmaker’s new DCT unit is claimed to be more sophisticated and affordable than the existing automatic gearboxes. The Tata Altroz DCT turbo will face challenge from cars like Hyundai i20 turbo and Volkswagen Polo 1.0 TSI. The model will feature a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, which is essentially the de-tuned version of the Nexon’s gasoline motor. The premium hatchback will deliver a peak power of 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox will also be on offer.

Tata Altroz Turbo Blue Colour

The upcoming Tata Altroz turbo petrol will get the ‘Turbo’ badging at the rear along with a new Blue colour scheme. Its entire design and dimensions will remain unchanged. The turbo petrol engine is likely to be offered on the higher trims of the premium hatchback.

After the Tata Altroz DCT turbo, the carmaker will bring in the much-awaited Gravitas SUV that will be put up against the new-generation Mahindra XUV500. The latter one is due for April, 2021. The Tata Gravitas is the bigger version of the Harrier with an additional third row seats, more features and slightly revised styling. Though, it will use the same 2.0L turbo diesel engine that does duty in the Harrier. The motor has been tuned for generating power worth 170bhp. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
