Tata Altroz CNG Launch Details & Segment First Features

Tata Motors showcased its two upcoming CNG models at the recently-concluded Delhi Auto Expo – Altroz CNG and Punch CNG. Both models are slated to launch this year, but their exact launch date is yet to be revealed. According to a fresh media report, the Tata Altroz CNG will hit showrooms later this year. What’s interesting about the model is its new dual cylinder setup that doesn’t eat up much of its boot space. Each cylinder, fitted above the rear floor, has a capacity of 30-litre.

Besides this, the Altroz CNG is also the first car in its segment to come with a Single Advanced ECU (engine control unit) and Direct State CNG. It has faster refuling, auto switch between fuels and modular fuel filter. One can switch off the engine during refuling via a micro switch. The model also comes with the first-in-segment leakage detection technology that ensures a switch to petrol in case of a gas leak.

No changes have been made to its exterior and interior. Similar to the regular petrol version, the hatchback’s CNG variant offers a 7-inch Harman infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, leatherette seat upholstery, automatic climate control, height adjustable driver seat, electric sunroof, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, R16 dual-tone alloy wheels, shark fin antenna and auto folding ORVMs.

The carmaker will bring in the Tata Altroz Racer Edition before launching its CNG version. Major highlight of the Racer edition is the more powerful, 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine making 120PS and 170Nm. It gets FWD system with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Once launched, the hatchback’s sporty variant will go up against the Hyundai i20 N-Line.
