Tata 45X concept based hatchback to get large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system

Tata is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the domestic car market. The company is gearing up for the launch of the new Harrier 5-seater premium SUV, which is scheduled in January 2019. What’s more interesting is that the homegrown automaker is working on 4 all-new exciting products, which will be launched before the end of 2020.

Besides Harrier, Tata will launch the 45X concept based premium hatchback in India in 2019. This model will also mark the debut of brand’s all-new Alpha platform, which will also underpin the new micro SUV Hornbill and a mid-sized sedan. Tata is also working on a 7-seater Harrier – codenamed H7X – which will mark its debut at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.

The Tata 45X concept based hatchback has been spotted several times while testing on Indian roads. This time, interior of the hatchback is partially revealed in a new set of spy images. It is visible that the hatchback gets a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. Tata had claimed to offer ‘segment leading’ human-machine interface screens, and the spy image clearly shows a large touchscreen unit positioned above the centre console. It is clearly bigger than the one offered in the cars like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20.

The dashboard design is conventional, featuring analogue dials and T-shaped centre console with air con vents under the centre screen. It features a multi-functional steering wheel. The vehicle is likely to come with several personalisation options along with several in-cabin storage spaces. Also See – Tata 45X – Expected Changes From The Concept

The Tata 45X will be the second product to feature the brand’s new IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN philosophy. It is expected to share mechanics with the Nexon SUV, which means a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.5-litre Revotorq diesel. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic unit.
