Tata Motors is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company plans four all-new products including 2 SUVs, 1 premium hatchback and a mid-sized sedan. The premium hatchback was previewed as 45X concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Carrying striking design and tech-loaded cabin, the new hatchback could be a big hit in the B+ hatchback segment. AMP platform – 45X will be Tata Motors first car to be based on the brand’s all-new AMP (Advanced Modular Platform). This platform will also underpin a mid-sized sedan. Tata Motors is aiming to reduce its number of platforms to 2 from current 6. While the AMP product will spawn products with length up to 4.3 meter in length, the Land Rover sourced platform will be used to develop products above 4.3 meter in length. The new platform is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and safer.
Impact 2.0 design – it will be brand’s second product to feature the company’s evolved and matured Impact 2.0 design philosophy. The first model based on this design architecture is the H5X SUV.
Tech loaded – Tata Motors will equip the premium hatchback with several high-end features to give it a competitive edge over competition. This model will get features like next gen touchscreen infotainment system with connected car applications, front and rear parking cameras, rear ac vents, automatic climate control and others. Competition – the 45X concept sits above 4 meter in length. Though, the production model will measure under 4 meter. This premium hatchback will rival the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and Maruti Baleno. Also See – Tata H5X First Look Review
Launch – this premium hatchback will go on sale in the second half of 2019. The company will first launch the H5X concept based premium SUV in India in early 2019.
