SWM SuperDual T600 Makes India Debut; Launch By Mid 2018

SWM Superdual T adventure tourer has finally made its India debut at an off-road event in Pune. Scheduled to launch by mid 2018, the middleweight adventure bike will be offered in two variants – ‘T’ (on-road version) and ‘X’ (off-road variant). Just so you know, MotoRoyale, Kinetic Group’s superbikes initiative, had announced (in May 2017) its plan to launch the Italian motorcycle brand – SWM Motorcycles – in the Indian market. The company had also confirmed that the first product to roll out will be the SWM SuperDual 650 adventure tourer bike.

For people not in the know, SWM Motorcycles is an Italian brand that commenced its operations back in 1971 with Motocross, Enduro and off road bikes. With its liquidation in 1984, the company closed down its all operations. However, the Milan-based firm breathed a new life with funding from China-based Shineray Group in 2014. The bikemaker displayed its product lineup at the 2014 EICMA show. SWM SuperDual T600 India Launch Date

As mentioned in the beginning, the SuperDual adventure tourer will be the first product to hit showrooms in the country. Recently, the bikemaker showcased the vehicle for its Indian audiences in Pune. Designed for the on-and-off-road purposes, the tourer will be brought to India through the CKD (completely knocked down) route, and will be assembled locally at MotoRoyale’s Ahmednagar facility in Maharashtra. In India, Kinetic Group has four MotoRoyale dealerships – Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad and Bengaluru.

Kinetic aims to expand its dealership network across 16-17 cities by 2019. As far as pricing is concerned, the new SWM motorcycle is estimated to be priced Rs 5 lakh for the road-biased variant and Rs 7 lakh for the off-road version. SWM SuperDual T600 India Specifications

The SWM SuperDual adventure bike sources its engine and chassis from the old Husqvarna TE610 enduro. Powering the adventure tourer is a 600cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine pushing out a maximum power of 54bhp and 53.5Nm of peak torque. Based on the tubular steel chassis and the aluminium swingarm, SWM’s bike comes with a pack of high-quality components such as LED headlamps, Sachs shock, Fast Ace forks, Brembo calipers and an optional hard luggage. It also gets high-set exhaust, windscreen, crash guard and a bashplate. However, it misses out on some features such as traction control, ride-by-wire and riding modes. SWM SuperDual India Price

The bike has a fuel tank capacity of 18-litres. It features long travel suspension, and stands on a high ground clearance. All these features will enhance the touring and adventure capabilities of the bike. The SuperDaul measures 2240mm in length, 905mm in width and 1240mm in height with a ground clearance of 180mm. It has a saddle height of 898mm and rides on 110/80×19” front and 140/80×17” rear tyres. With a kerb weight of 169kg, the Superdual is the lightest middleweights ADV bike.
