In India, SWM Motorcycles is likely to collaborate with MotoRoyale – the subsidiary of the Kinetic Group.
Based on the Husqvarna TE630, the SWM SuperDual adventure motorcycle will be the first product from the Italian bikemaker in India.
Beating China, India has become the world’s largest two-wheeler market with 17.1 million sales previous year. Considering the tremendous growth of the market, the new players are eyeing to grab a bite of it while the existing ones are aiming to strengthen their position with new product lineup. The Italian motorcycle manufacturer – SWM Motorcycles is planning to mark its entry in the Indian market in coming future.
In India, the Milan-based bikemaker is likely to collaborate with MotoRoyale – the subsidiary of the Kinetic Group. MotoRoyale, the service-backed dealership, sells MV Augusta bikes in the country.
As mentioned above, SWM Motorcycles is an Italian brand that commenced its operations back in 1971 with Motocross, Enduro and off road bikes. With its liquidation in 1984, the company closed down its all operations. However, the Milan-based firm breathed a new life with funding from China-based Shineray Group in 2014. The bikemaker displayed its product lineup at the 2014 EICMA show. Now, the company is planning to spread its wing across different nations including India.
Talking to carandbike, Ajinkya Firodia, Managing Director of Kinetic Engineering Limited, said, “We have tied up with SWM under the MotoRoyale initiative. We shall be launching the SWM 650 SuperDual. Manufacturing strategy is being explored and we are considering CKD.”

Damping duties on the motorbike are carried out by Fast Ace USD (upside down) forks with rebound damping adjustment upfront and a Sachs monoshock with preload, compression and rebound adjustment rear suspension setup. For braking purpose, the bike gets 300mm front and 220mm rear discs.
The SWM SuperDual carries a dry weight of 186kg, and offers a fuel tank capacity of 18-litres. Standing on a high ground clearance (180mm), the bike measures 2240mm in length, 905mm in width and 1240mm in height.
