Launched in 2005, Maruti Suzuki Swift has achieved five million units sales milestone in the global market. In domestic market alone, the company has registered a total sales of 2.7 million units of Swift and Swift Dzire so far. The Swift hatchback has been a top-selling model in the Maruti Suzuki’s line-up through the decade. It has surpassed its own records year after year. The Swift has always been favored for its performance, superior handling and sporty looks.

The Maruti Swift is the only car in India that has bagged ‘Car of the Year’ Awards twice over, once in 2005 and again in 2011. In 2014, the hatchback has received its second facelift with several cosmetic and features upgrades. Though, the major change comes in the form of more fuel efficient engines. While the fuel efficiency of the Swift diesel is increased by 10%, while the Swift petrol is improved by 9.6%.

The Swift, currently, manufactured in seven countries including Japan, India, Hungary, Pakistan, China, and Thailand. In India, the Maruti Swift constantly increased its sales in line with the market expansion due to economic growth. The hatchback accounts for approximately 30% (approx 430,000 units) of the annual sales units of Suzuki in India to lead its sales expansion in the Indian market. The breakdown of five million units is: India 54%, Japan 10%, Europe 17%, etc.
