Suzuki Katana Superbike To Debut On 2nd October At 2018 INTERMOT

Reports suggest that the upcoming Suzuki superbike could be the all-new Suzuki Katana.

Suzuki Motorcycles has dropped yet another teaser video of its upcoming new superbike. While the name and details of the motorcycle is still under the wraps, it’s resembles to the Suzuki GSX-S100F concept that broke cover at the EICMA 2017. Reports suggest that the upcoming Suzuki superbike could be the all-new Suzuki Katana. The information has also been confirmed by the documents leaked from the United States Patent and Trademark Office revealing that the Japanese bikemaker has filed an application for the name ‘Katana’, a sword insignia and a Japanese character moniker.

The Suzuki Katana motorcycle was designed by the Germany-based Target Design in 1979. The design team included three experts – Muth, Hans-Georg Kasten and Jan Gellstrom. Later, the bikemaker used the same nameplate for a range of sport touring bikes in North America between 1981 and 2006. Based on the GSX-S1000F, the Suzuki Katana 3.0 concept was powered by a 999cc, four-cylinder in-line engine that’s good for 148bhp at 10,000rpm against 108Nm of torque at 9,500rpm. For performing transmission duties, the concept was equipped with a 6-speed gearbox. If reports are to be believed, the new Suzuki Katana might get a turbocharged powertain.
