Suzuki Jimny Sierra India Launch By the End of 2021
Suzuki Jimny Sierra, the rugged 4X4 off-roader from the Japanese carmaker, was recently showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020. The model displayed at the event was the global-spec 3-door version packed with the 1.5L K15B petrol engine. We have done its first look video explaining all its details and factors that make it a sensible product for the Indian market. Considering all those parameters, the carmaker might bring it here by the end of 2021.
Maruti Suzuki, however, will launch the more practical five-door version of the Jimny. The fourth-generation Suzuki Jimny is based on the same body-on-frame chassis with light body weight and compact dimension. Globally, the SUV is available with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, coupled to 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. The same transmission options and drivetrain system could be offered on the India-spec five-door Maruti Jimny.
Design and styling of the new Suzuki Jimny is quite rugged. Some of highlights include a five-slat front grille design, fog lamps with pronounced air intakes, circular LED headlamps, blackend bumpers, flared wheel arches and rear mounted spare wheel. Inside, the Jimny offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, audio and climate controls, automatic AC unit, cruise control and more. With respect to safety, the SUV gets lane departure warning, heated front seats, multiple airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a seat belt reminder and autonomous emergency braking system.
The carmaker also equipped the ‘Suzuki Safety Support’ that provide visual and audio aids to alert the driver before an incoming crash or collision. It can also increase the braking force to prevent collision. The India-spec version might devoid of some of the aforementioned safety fitments.
