The new generation Suzuki Jimny has been receiving an overwhelming response from car buyers globally. The mini off-roader was introduced in the European markets in 2017-18. If media reports are to be believed, the demand for the micro SUV is still high as some of the dealers are not taking pre-orders. It is reported that the small SUV commands a waiting period of around 6 to 12 months.
The new Suzuki Jimny entered the Australian market in 2019. The small SUV has been receiving an extra-ordinary response from buyers. In fact, the new model is already sold out for 2020. The report claims that the SUV commands a waiting period of round 6 to 12 months.
Talking to CarsGuide, a Suzuki Australia spokesperson said, “the orders for Jimny are still coming in strong”. Despite increase in supply by 30%, every Jimny example entering dealerships in 2020 will be delivered to customers to clear previous orders. This suggests that the new buyers won’t be able to drive home the new Jimny until next year. In fact, new buyers will have to wait till July 2021 to purchase the Jimny.
Suzuki had showcased the 3-door Jimny SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The new model received good response from visitors. In fact, media reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki could introduce the new model in India in 2021. The company is also aiming to make India an export hub for Jimny. It will be produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat based plant and will be exported to several international markets.
Latest media reports claim that Maruti Suzuki Jimny India launch is yet to be finalised. The Jimny is a three-door SUV, which only accommodates 4 adults with no space for luggage. To make it a success in India, Maruti Suzuki will have to make a five-door version for our market. For this, the Indo-Japanese automaker will have to make new investments. Adding to it, the stretched length could also impact Jimny’s handling.
