Suzuki Intruder 250 cruiser bike in the works to rival Royal Enfield
The Suzuki Intruder 250cc motorcycle will go on sale in India in 2020
Japanese two-wheeler maker, Suzuki has recently launched the Gixxer SF and the Gixxer SF 250 fully-faired motorcycle in the Indian market. The SF and the SF 250 are available a price tag of Rs 1.09 lakh and Rs 1.70 lakh respectively. The company will also launch the naked version of the motorcycle by the end of this year. A new media report claims that Suzuki is also working on a more powerful Intruder cruiser to challenge the Royal Enfield Thunderbird series in India.
The report claims that the Suzuki Intruder will be equipped with a 250cc motor. The Suzuki Intruder 250 is expected to be launched at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. The new 250cc platform will be used to develop a range of motorcycles including a naked quarter-litre motorcycle and a cruiser. Other reports claim that Suzuki has decided to focus on two-wheelers above 150cc engine category. A 250cc Intruder cruiser will be the part of company’s plan to gain momentum in the premium category.
It is expected that the Intruder 250 will share design cues from the existing 150cc. The motorcycle is also likely to share some of the design highlights from the bigger Suzuki cruiser bikes. Most of the cycle parts and engine components will be sourced from the Gixxer SF 250, but will be updated to suit the needs of the cruiser motorcycle. The bike is likely to get longer swingarm, forward set footpegs and more comfortable riding position.
It will be powered by the same 250cc, single-cylinder four stroke engine that produces 26bhp of power and 22.9NM of torque. The powertrain will be tuned to suit the needs of the cruiser motorcycle. Suspension mechanism of the bike comprise of telescopic front forks and the monoshock unit at the rear. Other features include alloy wheels, tubeless tyres, digital instrument console, LED headlamps and taillamps, etc. For braking, the Intruder 250 will get dual disc brakes and dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System). Likely to be priced close to 2 lakh, the Suzuki Intruder 250 will challenge the likes of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird and the UM Renegade.
