Suzuki, the Japanese carmaker has recently revealed that the Suzuki iK-2 premium hatch concept will make its official debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Ahead of its official premiere, the first official image of the iK-2 concept (YRA Premium Hatchback) has been leaked on the web.
According to Suzuki, the iK-2 concept is “an ideal compact car”. It adopts the company’s new “Harmonised Force” as its central design theme. The hatchback will be positioned above the Swift hatchback. Few media reports suggest that the car could be sold with Baleno nameplate.
Codenamed as Maruti YRA, the iK-2 hatchback is likely to make its global debut in India in the second half of 2015. The hatchback is expected to be 90kg lighter than the Swift, which makes it fuel efficient and high on performance. It will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options. While the petrol engine is likely to be the 1.0-litre turbocharged unit, the oil burner is likely to be the 1.3-litre multi-jet unit.
The production spec model will be wider and spacious than the Swift. It will rival against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo and Honda Jazz. The car will be equipped with high end features such as cruise control, multi-functional steering wheel, keyless entry with push start/stop button, electrically adjustable and retractable wing mirrors, etc.
