Suzuki Ertiga Based Crossover To Debut In Late 2019 – Report
The new Ertiga crossover is likely to share body panels with the regular MPV model.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga recently entered into its second-generation with significant design and mechanical changes. The 7-seater MPV has been receiving overwhelming response from buyers, and managed to outsold both its arch rivals – Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta – in December, 2018.
According to a fresh report, Suzuki is working on a crossover based on the Ertiga MPV. The Suzuki Ertiga crossover will make its global debut by the end of this year. This new crossover is likely to share most of its design bits and body panels with the regular MPV model. Though, it will get new graphics and lots of chrome giving it sportier appearance. Engine details of the new Ertiga crossover are still under the wraps. Though, the report suggests that it will share powertrain with the regular MPV model. In India, the Maruti Ertiga comes with two engine options – a 1.5L petrol and a 1.3L diesel. Transmission options include a manual and an AMT unit.
As far as launch is concerned, the Suzuki Ertiga crossover will first go on sale in the Indonesian market. There is no clarity whether the crossover will come to India or not. As of now, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is planning to bring in the 6-seater version of the MPV with a new 1.5L diesel engine in coming weeks.
