Priced at Rs 68,000, the Suzuki Burgman Street takes on the TVS Ntorq, Honda Grazia and Aprilia SR 125.

Suzuki Burgman Street, India’s first maxi-scooter, has finally gone on sale. Priced at 68,000 Rs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Burgman sits above the Suzuki Access 125 in the company’s product lineup. At this price, it takes on the TVS Ntorq, Honda Grazia and Aprilia SR 125. The upcoming Hero Maestro Edge 125 and Duet 125 scooters will also challenge the Suzuki’s new 125cc scooter.

Design and styling inspiration of the Suzuki Burgman comes from its bigger Burgman siblings, which are retailed globally with different engine options. Unlike the conventional scooters, Suzuki’s new maxi scooter carries a unique styling with features such as large apron, windscreen, exhaust with elaborate shroud and relatively hefty body built. The mirrors of the Burgman are sourced from the Suzuki Gixxer. It has all LCD instrument console, a 12V charging socket and multi function key slot. Other key features include LED headlamp, LED taillamp, step-up style single seat, pronounced step between the rider and pillion pads and sides on alloy wheels. The scooter gets disc brake at the front axle along with the standard Combi brakes. Suspension setup of the Burgman includes telescopic forks up front and a single shock absorber at the rear axle. A 124.3cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) technology supplies power to the new Suzuki Burgman Street. This gasoline motor makes 8.5bbhp at 6,500rpm and 10.2Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. It’s the same engine that does duty in the Suzuki Access. For transmission duties, it gets CVT (continuous variable transmission) gearbox.
