3. Hyundai Kona
One of the most exciting new SUVs at Auto Expo 2018 is the new Hyundai Kona. This is the company’s global premium 5-seater SUV, which is slotted between Creta and Tucson. It is based on the i30 platform and comes with more crossover-ish design and feature-loaded cabin. The company has showcased the concept model of the regular version of the SUV at the auto expo. However, Hyundai has confirmed that the electric version of the Kona will go on sale in the Indian market.
For people not in the known, Hyundai had revealed the electric version of the Kona at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017. The company will import this model into India via CKD route and then assembled at its Chennai based production plant. If the vehicle receives positive response, Hyundai could start local development of this SUV. The Hyundai Kona features the company’s new Fluidic design philosophy. It features signature ‘cascading’ front grille, two-tier LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, muscular fenders with thick black plastic cladding and wraparound LED tail-lights.
