The most exciting product in the list of new SUVs at Auto Expo 2018 is the Tata Motors’ new premium SUV concept – H5X. This model is set to join the company’s line-up by the end of this year. It will be the first Tata product to feature the company’s latest IMPACT Design 2.0 design language.

The Tata H5X concept features a squat stance and huge wheel arches fitted to massive 22-inch wheels. Upfront is a slim high-set LED headlights and a more prominent Tata’s trademark ‘humanity line’ that connects the grille and headlights. The massive front bumper gets silver-coloured fauxed skid plate and new fog lamp enclosure, which Tata claimed to have a ‘tri-arrow pattern’. There are lot of creases and curves all around the car, while the chunky cladding at the base of the doors gives it a sporty touch.

The vehicle comes with sloping roofline that looks quite sporty in nature, and has a narrower glass house from the C-pillar which merges with the rear windscreen. The rear profile gets wraparound tail-lights and large bumper. The Tata H5X comes with a clean and clutter-free design and the material quality used is top-notch. The SUV gets a digital console and a touchscreen infotainment system with several connectivity options.

Built on the Land Rover’s L550 platform, the SUV will come with two seating layouts – 5 and 7. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre Multijet II diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass. This engine will be tuned to offer two power outputs – 140bhp (5-seater model) and 170bhp (7-seater model). Both manual and automatic versions of the SUV will be on offer.
