Maruti Suzuki had launched the new-generation Ertiga MPV in the Indian market in November 2018. Built on the new HEARTECT platform, the new Ertiga is bigger and spacious than the previous model. The new model is available in petrol and diesel guise, priced between Rs 7.44 lakh and Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Speculations were on rife that Maruti Suzuki is also working on a sportier version of the Ertiga MPV, which is likely to be called Ertiga Cross. Six-seater model
The upcoming Maruti Ertiga Cross will be available with six-seat layout. For people not in the know, the regular Ertiga is available in 7 and 8 seat layout. The sportier version of the MPV will be offered in 2+2+2 seating layout.

To Be Sold Through NEXA Dealerships
What’s interesting is that the six-seater Maruti Ertiga will be sold via Nexa premium dealerships. The company is currently selling the Ignis, Baleno, Ciaz and S-Cross via this premium dealership network. The regular Ertiga is being offered via arena dealerships.
Petrol Only
While the new-gen Ertiga is available in petrol and diesel guise. The diesel version is powered by an 89bhp, 1.3-litre MJD unit, while the petrol model gets a 104bhp, 1.5-litre K15B unit. The sportier Ertiga Cross is likely to be offered in petrol version only. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre engine that produces 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Sporty Design
The upcoming Ertiga Cross is expected to be launched as a range-topping model. It could receive a sportier exterior design, featuring a sporty body kit. The company is likely to use additional chrome bits on the exterior, which will be in-line with Ertiga Sport concept previewed earlier this year at the Indonesian Motor Show. The MPV could receive a larger-profile and newly designed alloy wheels. The cabin is also expected to receive sportier bits in the form of sport seats and all-black scheme. Launch Timeline
The new Ertiga Cross is expected to be launched in the second half of 2019. A possible launch in the 3rd quarter of 2019 can’t be ignored.
