New Renault Crossover

French automaker, Renault is working on an all-new compact SUV which will be positioned between the Captur and Koleos. The new SUV is reportedly based on the new generation Nissan Qashqai. An early prototype of the SUV has been spotted testing, which was earlier speculated to be the next generation Koleos. Moreover, the next generation Koleos is also under development. The new Koleos is likely to make debut in 2015-16; however, the spotted crossover seems a completely new model for the Renault.

New Renault Crossover spied testing

The new SUV will use the CMF modular platform, which is developed by Renault and Nissan alliance. This crossover will compete against the likes of Honda CR-V and the new Suzuki Vitara.

The new crossover is rumored to make its official debut in March 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show, while the sales are expected to commence in June. The spotted crossover is reportedly shares its design cues with the recently unveiled Espace. The second generation Koleos will be based on the new Nissan X-Trail, which uses the common Module Family (CMF) architecture. The CMF architecture is flexible that it can accommodate any kind of vehicles- starting from a compact car to a large SUV. This would further reduce the development cost and helps the company to price and position vehicles competitive in the market.
