Skoda’s Version of VW Nivus Crossover Digitally Imagined

Skoda Nivus Rendering

Volkswagen has unveiled the highly-anticipated Nivus crossover, which will be launched in Brazil in the end of June 2020. The new model is designed and developed on the VW Group’s MQB AO platform, which also underpins the T-Cross, new Polo and the Virtus sedan. The crossover features a unique design with coupe-like profile.

Skoda’s global Kamiq SUV is also designed on the MQB AO platform. In fact, the next-gen Fabia hatchback is also expected to be developed on this platform. This also suggests that Skoda could have Nivus like crossover coupe in future. Digital Artist, Klebar Silva has released a couple of renderings that shows the possible look of Skoda’s version of the crossover Coupe. Also See – Volkswagen Nivus crossover explained in images

The rendering has maximum changes in the front design, which has more Skoda elements and looks similar to that of the Kamiq crossover. It features an all-new Skoda’s signature Butterfly grille with chrome surround, and new and sleeker LED headlamps with daytime running lights. In fact, the lower bumper is completely different with wider honeycomb pattern air-inlet and faux silver skid plate at the bottom. The positioning as well as design of fog lamp has also been changed.

Another change is the newly designed machined-cut alloys. The rear profile looks exactly the same, except for the Skoda lettering on the black strip connecting the tail-lamps. This is pure speculation as Skoda is yet to make an official announcement on any such product.

The Volkswagen Nivus crossover shares the 2.56 meters of wheelbase with the Polo hatchback; however, the Cross-hatch is longer than the Brazilian-spec T-Cross that rides on 2.65 meters of wheelbase. The Nivus and the T-Cross measure 4.26 meters and 4.19 meters in length respectively. The Crossover Coupe has an elongated rear overhang, which contributes to its overall length as well as boot. It offers a luggage carrying capacity of 415-litres, which is 42-litres more than the T-Cross offering 373-litres. Powering the Volkswagen Nivus is a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 128bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
