Skoda Vision IN SUV Exterior Design Revealed in New Sketches

Skoda Vision IN Exterior Sketch

We reported earlier that Skoda will unveil the Vision IN SUV concept on February 3, ahead of its public debut on February 7 at the Auto Expo 2020. The company had released the interior sketch of the SUV in December, and now the first exterior sketches of the Skoda Vision IN have been officially released. The new images give us the idea of the design language of Skoda’s upcoming compact SUV.

The sketches reveal that the Vision IN shares significant design elements with the Kamiq sold in foreign countries. However, it comes with India-specific changes and has a bolder and more upright front. There is a signature chrome-embellished Skoda grille upfront, which is flanked by split projector headlights. The SUV has angular bumper that accommodates large air intakes and a three-slot skid plate. Plastic cladding can be seen all around the body, while the prominent roof rails and large alloys give it a bolder profile.

The rear profile of the Skoda Vision IN seems heavily inspired by the Kamiq SUV. It features crystal-like LED tail-lights and a light strip that runs across the width of the SUV, along with a three-slot skid plate. The Vision IN SUV concept will measure 4.26 meters in length, which is similar to the Brazilian-spec VW T-Cross.

The interior sketch of the Skoda Vision IN seems inspired by the Kamiq and other global Skoda SUVs. It features a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with modern connectivity features, and a virtual cockpit digital instrument console. Other comfort and convenience features will include automatic AC, a panoramic sunroof, drive modes, ambient lighting, rear air-con vents, etc.

Skoda Vision IN Interior

The Skoda Vision IN Concept based SUV will be the first model to be based on the VW Group’s India-specific MQB AO IN platform, which will also underpin the VW T-Cross for India. The SUV will ride on a 2,651mm long wheelbase, which should help the Czech automaker to free-up space for rear occupants.

The Skoda Vision IN SUV is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol. The company could also introduce the CNG version of the SUV. The SUV is scheduled to be launched in the first half of 2021. It will take on the likes of the next-gen Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks and the entry-level variants of the MG Hector, Tata Harrier and the Mahindra XUV500.
