Skoda Vision IN concept based mid-size SUV will be the first launch from the Czech carmaker in India in 2021. Zac Hollis, Director and Head of Sales & Marketing, Skoda India, has confirmed that the official name of the production-ready Vision IN SUV will be announced “in just a few days now”. Interestingly, the Vision IN will be the first production model to roll out under Volkswagen Group’s ‘India 2.0 Project’ and underpins the brand’s MQB-A0-IN platform. The new architecture, which is a localized version of the MQB platform, has been designed to fulfill Indian market specific requirements. The new Skoda SUV will take head-to-head against Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, which are currently dominating the segment.
Official details of the new Skoda Vision IN concept based SUV are yet to be revealed by the carmaker. Though, it’s reported to be offered with a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The gasoline unit will be tuned for producing power worth 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. It can accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 8.7 seconds and attain a top speed of 195kmph.
The SUV will have virtual cockpit with features such as a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smarphone connectivity, shift-by-wire technology, leather seat upholstery, ambient lighting, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic climate control and more. The production-ready Skoda Vision IN is likely to stay true to its concept. The SUV will carry Skoda’s global SUV design language with features such as signature ‘Butterfly’ grille and ‘power dome’ on the bonnet. Some of its other design highlights will include LED headlamps with crystalline elements, slim DRLs and turn lights, diamond cut alloys, black plastic cladding, LED taillamps, prominent light strip, roof integrated spoiler, rear diffuser and faux skid plate.
