Skoda Vision IN Based SUV Spotted Testing Before March Unveil

We informed you earlier that Skoda will launch the Vision IN concept based mid-sized SUV in the second quarter of 2021. The production version of the SUV is scheduled to be unveiled in March 2021. Ahead of the official unveil, the upcoming Skoda mid-sized SUV has been caught testing on the roads of Mumbai.

The spotted model was fully camouflaged, but it shows that the overall profile remains identical to the concept unveiled at Auto Expo 2020. The SUV retains the sharp lines and aggressive creases of the Vision IN concept. Adding to it, the SUV will have signature design highlights such as high-set butterfly grille and high-set fog lamps. The SUV shares design highlights from the bigger SUVs including the Kodiaq and the Karoq.

The new Skoda mid-sized SUV will be based on the MQB AO IN platform, which will also underpin the next-gen Rapid and the Volkswagen Taigun. The SUV will measure around 4.3 meters in length; however, it will ride on the segment-leading 2,671mm wheelbase. The long wheelbase will help Skoda to carve out more space inside the cabin.

Interior details of the production-spec Skoda Vision IN SUV are yet to be revealed, but it is expected to be packed with several high-end comfort and convenience features. The SUV is likely to feature a large free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, connected car technology, a digital instrument console, panoramic sunroof, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel and many more.

The Skoda Vision IN based SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine that produces 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The vehicle will also get a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 110bhp and 175Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

Skoda will aim to achieve close to 95 per cent of localisation, which should help the company to price it competitively. It is expected to be priced around Rs 9.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. The company will also launch the new Octavia and the Kodiaq facelift in 2021.
