Skoda Slavia: Rapid Successor Key Details Revealed Via Spyshots

Skoda has officially announced that the Rapid successor will be launched in the Indian market before the end of this financial year. Rumoured to be called the Skoda Slavia, the mid-sized sedan has been spotted testing multiple times. Latest spy images reveal the design and the interior details of the sedan.

The Skoda Slavia’s latest spy images reveal production-ready LED headlamps and tail-lamps, fog lights and alloys. The cabin of the Skoda Slavia mid-sized sedan has dual-tone interior scheme and two-spoke steering wheel, which we have already seen on the new Kushaq mid-sized SUV.

In fact, the cabin layout seems identical to the Skoda Kushaq‘s interior. It features the similar 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The AC vents are placed below the touchscreen, and the climate controls are placed further below.

The vehicle also gets Kushaq-like analogue dials for the instrument console. The sedan is also expected to get features such as connected car tech, six airbags, an electric sunroof, climate control, etc.

The Skoda Slavia will be based on the heavily-localised MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun. To be introduced as a notchback, the Slavia will rival the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Going by the spy images, it is clear that the new model will be significantly bigger than the Rapid and could measure close to the Honda City in terms of length.

The Skoda Slavia mid-sized sedan will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Kushaq. This engine is capable of producing 115bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
