Skoda’s upcoming mid-size sedan – Slavia – has finally entered into production at the company’s plant in Chakan, Pune. The automaker says that the model has been designed considering the requirements and expectations of its customers. Based on Made-for-India MQB-A0-IN platform, the Skoda Slavia is claimed to showcase the brand’s “expertise, pedigree and legacy with sedans in terms of design, packaging, dynamics, technology and value”.
Engine, Power
– The Slavia model lineup will be spread across three trims – Active, Ambition and Style – powered by TSI 1.0L and 1.5L petrol engines. The latter has been boosted with active cylinder technology (ACT) that enhances its fuel efficiency. The 1.0L gasoline motor delivers power worth 115bhp against 175Nm of torque and the 1.5L unit is good for 150bhp and 250Nm.
– Both motors come with the 6-speed manual gearbox. While a 6-speed torque convertor automatic is available only on 1.0L petrol variants, a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox is offered on the 1.5L models.
High On Features
– Interior layout and design of the new Skoda sedan is inspired by the latest design concept of the brand’s European models.

– The higher trim has been exclusively offered with the ventilated front seats with leather upholstery and MySkoda Connect mobile online services.
– The list of features also includes new round air vents, a fully digital 8-inch instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, keyless entry, new two-spoke multi functional steering wheel, auto day/night IRVM and wireless charger.
– On the safety front, the new Skoda Slavia sedan offers 6 airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, electronic differential system, multi-collision brake, hill hold control, cruise control, rain and light sensors, tyre pressure monitoring and rear parking sensors and camera.
Design, Dimensions
– The upcoming Skoda Slavia sedan shares some of its design bits with the Octavia and Superb. Though, it looks different with muscular stance, and crease free lines.
– Upfront, it carries the signature grille and sporty bumper with lots of chrome treatment. Some of its key design elements include LED headlamps, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and taillamps with Skoda’s signature crystalline detailing.
– The sedan measures 1752mm wide and offers a boot capacity of 521-litres.
Price Expectations
– The new Skoda Slavia underpins the MQB-A0-IN platform that has been built with up to 95% localization. It’s claimed to bring down the overall cost of ownership.
– With Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Hyundai Verna in its sight, the Slavia is estimated to cost between Rs 10 lakh – Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
