We informed you earlier that Skoda will launch the Slavia mid-sized sedan before the end of this financial year. Zac Hollis, Director, Sales & Marketing, Skoda India has confirmed that customer deliveries of the Skoda Slavia sedan will commence in March 2022.
Skoda is yet to confirm the official launch date of the new Slavia sedan. It is expected to be launched in the end of February or March 2022. It is based on the VW Group’s MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Skoda Kushaq and the VW Taigun. Set to replace the ageing Rapid sedan, the new Skoda Slavia will take on the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
The Skoda Slavia mid-sized sedan will be offered in 3 trim levels – Active, Ambition & Style. All three trims will come with the 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine. The top-spec Style trim will also be offered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
The 1.0L TSI engine is capable of producing 115bhp and 178Nm, while the 1.5L TSI is good for 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox will be offered as standard. The Ambition 1.0L will also get a 6-speed torque convertor automatic, while the Style 1.5L will have a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
In terms of proportions, the new Slavia is 4,541mm in length, 1,752mm in width and 1,487mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,651mm. Compared to the Rapid, it is 128mm longer, 53mm wider and 21mm taller. In fact, the wheelbase has been raised by 99mm. It is claimed to offer best-in-class boot space of 520-litres.
In terms of features, the new Slavia will have a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, leatherette upholstery, connected car tech, ventilated front seats, 6-speakers premium audio system and a digital instrument console. For safety and security, the sedan will get 6 airbags, cruise control, multi-collision brake, rear parking camera, auto wipers, etc.
