Skoda Slavia Based Hatchback Imagined; Looks Good

Czech automaker, Skoda is gearing up for the launch of the new Slavia mid-sized sedan in the Indian market. This will be the second model under the VW Group’s India Project 2.0. Skoda is also working on a new sub-4 meter SUV, which is reportedly to be launched in the late 2023.

The company has already said that they are not planning to launch a new hatchback, including the new generation Fabia hatchback. Digita artist, Kleber Silva has released a couple of renderings of a new hatchback based on the Slavia sedan. The rendering looks interesting in pictures.

The front profile of the hatchback looks largely identical to the Slavia sedan, featuring the prominent butterfly grille with chrome surround. It has Slavia like sweptback headlamps with LED DRLs, and LED fog lamps. The vehicle gets an aggressive bumper that has wider air-dam. Skoda lettering is also visible above the wheel arches.

The biggest change is made to the rear profile, which has huge resemblance with the new-gen Fabia hatchback. The rear has LED tail-lamps with Skoda’s familiar crystalline elements.

The Skoda Slavia is based on the MQB AO IN platform that underpins the new Kushaq and the VW Taigun. The sedan will be offered with two engine options – a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 113bhp and 175Nm, the later produces 147bhp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and a 7-speed DSG.
