We reported earlier that Skoda will launch the facelift version of Rapid sedan in India by the end of this year. If media reports to believe, the diesel version of the sedan will get the new 1.5-litre diesel engine which will be paired to a dual clutch automatic transmission gearbox. The current generation Rapid is powered by the 1.6-litre diesel engine which is also expected to be discontinued. The new engine will also be paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. Volkswagen is also planning to launch the facelift version of Polo and Vento on which, the Rapid sedan has been developed. The similar changes are also expected to be seen on the Vento facelift. The Vento facelift with 1.5-litre diesel engine and automatic gearbox is likely to be launched by festive season, while the Rapid facelift is expected to hit the shores by year end. If media reports to believe, the company might also introduce the Rapid with 1.2-litre direct injection petrol engine with a DSG gearbox.
The Rapid facelift will feature Skoda’s new design language, as it will get new headlamps, new bumper and grille and bonnet design. The interior detailing is yet to be announced, but we expect it to witness some upgrades that are visible in the updated Superb facelift.
