Skoda India is planning to launch the performance oriented Octavia vRS in the Indian car market in August. First unveiled in 2013, the new Octavia vRS gets several added features and sport a host of changes. It is speculated to be priced in the range of Rs. 23-26 lakh. This sportier version gets an increased ground clearance of 12mm as compared to the standard variant of the Octavia saloon.
The front fascia of the Skoda Octavia vRS is equipped with vRS badge and redesigned bumpers. Sportier grille is complemented by xenon head lights and LED fog lamps. At the back, the saloon gets a spoiler, a diffuser and modified exhaust tips. Its flared wheel arches have been fitted to lip-smacking designed alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the Octavia vRS features fully-black theme and vRS badge is placed on various places. The steering wheel and gear lever is covered in leather.
Under the hood, the Octavia vRS gets the 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that develops 217bhp of top power along with a peak torque of 350Nm. It accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 6.8 seconds. The oil burner is 2.0-litre TDI engine that produces 184bhp and 380Nm of peak torque. This model sprints from 0-100kmph in mere 8.1 seconds, which is pretty impressive. Both petrol and diesel powetrains will be paired to a six-speed manual gearbox while a six-speed DSG gearbox could be offered as an optional feature.
