Czech automaker, Skoda will introduce the much-awaited Kushaq mid-sized SUV on June 28, 2021. The new model will be offered with two turbocharged petrol engine options – a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 1.5L turbocharged petrol. A new media report claims that the 1.5L version will only be introduced on August 4, 2021.
The report also claims that Kushaq 1.0L display vehicle and test drive for both manual and automatic, and deliveries will commence from July 12, 2021. Official bookings for the new SUV will commence from June 28, 2021.
The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is the same unit that powers the VW T-ROC. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 148bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic. On the flip side, the 1.0L turbo engine produces 113bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. For transmission duties, this engine will be coupled to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The new Skoda SUV will come three trims – Active, Ambition and Style and four engine-gearbox combinations. Previous reports claim that the Active trim will be offered with 1.0L 6MT option, while the Ambition will be offered with 1.0L 6MT & 6AT. The top-spec Style variant will be offered with 10L MT, 6AT, 1.5L 6MT & 7 DSG.
The Skoda Kushaq will mark the debut of Volkswagen Group’s new MQB AO IN platform, which also underpins the soon-to-be-launched VW Taigun. The top-spec model will come equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features such as leather seats, ventilated front seats, cruise control, electric sunroof, connected car tech, automatic climate control, automatic headlamps, etc. Skoda is also reportedly preparing the Monte Carlo version of the Kushaq, which will arrive at a later stage.
