Skoda Kosmiq Could Be The Name For Hyundai Creta Rival; Coming In March
Skoda’s new compact SUV will make its global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show
It is no secret that Skoda is working on a compact SUV to challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks. The SUV is likely to make its global debut in March at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. According to the media reports, the small SUV could be called Skoda Kosmiq. It will be the most affordable Skoda SUV globally.
To be positioned below the Karoq and Kodiaq, the Skoda Kosmiq will go on sale in several international markets including China, Europe, North America and India. The SUV will follow the Volkswagen’s strategy for the T-Cross SUV. The T-Cross SUV for the emerging markets is slightly longer and more spacious than the European-spec model.

The Skoda Kosmiq will be built on the versatile MQB AO platform that also underpins the VW T-Cross, new Polo and Seat Arona. The India-spec model will ride on heavily localised MQB AO In platform, which will also underpin the India-spec T-Cross and 4 more products. The SUV will only be offered in front-wheel-drive layout. Previous media reports claim that Skoda’s SUV will use the longer version of the MQB AO platform. It is expected to be offered with three engine options – 1.0l TSI petrol, 1.5l TSI Evo petrol and 1.6l TDI diesel engines.
The SUV will share styling cues from the Vision X concept. The Vision X measures 4,250mm, 1,50mm and 1,800mm in length, width and height respectively. The new model has a longer wheelbase of 2,645mm, which ensures spacious cabin.
