Skoda, the Czech automaker is gearing up for the launch of the long-awaited Skoda Kodiaq in the Indian market. If media reports are to be believed, the company is also working on the RS version of its new flagship SUV. The Skoda Octavia RS is likely to make its global debut next year. There are no mechanical details of the SUV are available; however, media reports suggest that the SUV will have “lots of torque”. Like the Octavia vRS, the new Kodiaq could also get a petrol version. However, the company’s focus will be on diesel as most of the Kodiaq’s sales come from diesel version. Four-wheel-drive system will be offered as standard.
The Skoda Kodiaq vRS is also likely to get some design changes to give it a refreshing look. It is expected to feature a more aggressive bumper styling elements, several chrome treatment around the windows and front grille. It is quite early to comment whether Skoda will launch this performance oriented model in India or not. As of now, the company will launch the standard variant of the SUV in India this year. Besides, Skoda is also working on a coupe variant of the Kodiaq. This model will be launched in the Chinese market, and will be manufactured there itself. The Kodiaq coupe is not likely to be launched in other markets.
