Skoda India has finally introduced its much-awaited 7-seater SUV – Kodiaq – in the country. This new premium SUV will be locally assembled at the company’s Aurangabad facility in Maharashtra. We have driven the Kodiaq and came out highly impressed with the overall package.
1. Price & Variant

2. Skoda’s first-ever SUV
With all-new Kodiaq, the Czech Republic carmaker has entered into the fully-fledged SUV segment in India. In this space, the new Skoda SUV will face challenge from cars like Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
3. Sharing platform with Tiguan
The all-new Kodiaq shares its underpinnings with the Volkswagen Tiguan – i.e. MQB platform. Dimensionally, the SUV measures 4,697mm in length, 1,882mm in width, and 1,676mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,791mm. Compared to the Tiguan, the ground clearance of the Kodiaq is 38mm longer. 4. Premium design
Based on Skoda’s latest crystalline design philosophy, the all-new Kodiaq appears quite aggressive and offers a commanding road presence. Upfront, the car sports LED headlamps with cystal-eye effect, sporty bumper, a signature chromed grille, three-part airdam and LED fog lamps. 5. Feature laden cabin
The luxurious treatment continues inside the cabin. The soft touch plastic and wooden panels, dual-tone (Dark Grey and Beige) interior theme and a large panoramic sunroof enhance feel and appeal of the cabin. It gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Anroid Auto and navigation system, 12-speaker Canton stereo system, ambient lighting system with 10 different options, hands-free park-assist and lots of comfort fitments. 6. One of the safest car in its league
Safety has always been among Skoda’s priorities. The Kodiaq gets first-in-segment 9 airbags as standard safety equipment. Besides this, the SUV also comes equipped with ABS (anti-lock braking system), ESP (electronic stability programme), all-round parking sensors, reverse parking camera and traction control. In fact, the India-spec Kodiaq is as safe as the European model that achieved 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. The sheet metal, material quality and safety features of the India-spec Kodiaq are similar to the Euro-spec model.
7. Efficient Engine
Power for the new Skoda Kodiaq comes from a 2-litre DQ500 diesel engine paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. This powertrain is capable of churning out a maximum power of 148bhp between 3,500rpm – 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 340Nm at 1,750rpm – 3,000rpm. The SUV comes with an all-wheel-drive system (AWD) and an optional Dynamic Chassis Control. It also offers six driving modes – Comfort, Eco, Normal, Sport, Individual and Snow.
