Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe SUV Revealed; Global Debut In November

The Skoda Kodiaq GT will be exclusively produced and retailed in the Chinese market.

Skoda Kodiaq GT, the coupe version of the Kodiaq SUV, has finally been revealed by the Czech Republic carmaker. The new SUV coupe will be Skoda’s flagship model that will have its world premiere at the Guangzhou Motor Show in November, 2018. It will be exclusively produced and retailed in the Chinese market. The coupe SUV will be first launched in China by the end of this year, followed by emerging markets including India. Aimed at new, lifestyle-oriented consumers, the Skoda Kodiaq GT is claimed to combine “the robustness and versatility of an SUV”.

Measuring 4.63m in length, the new Coupe SUV features a black-framed grille with chrome-plated dual ribs, a wide bonnet, LED headlamps, three-dimensional bumper and front spoiler with wide air inlets at the front end. While the front fascia of the Skoda Kodiaq GT looks similar to the regular model, the side profile receives the coupe-like side creases.

The smoothly sloping roofline merges into the angled tailgate. The prominent wheel arches and chiseled body-coloured side skirts with matte black elements further enhance its sporty appearance. Compared to the standard Kodiaq, the coupe version is 63mm shorter and 1mm wider. In fact, it sits 27mm lower than the regular model. Reports suggest that the overall length, width and height of the Skoda Kodiaq GT coupe stand at 4634mm, 1883mm and 1649mm respectively. It has a wheelbase of 2791mm.

Inside, the Skoda Kodaiq GT has fully customizable Virtual Cockpit with high-quality materials. It provides Wi-Fi access along with Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink and Baidu’s Carlift connectivity. The SUV also comes with multiple assistance systems such as front assist, blind spot detect and adaptive cruise control with stop-go function.

For power, the Kodiaq GT will use a 2.0L TSI turbo petrol engine generating power output – 186bhp and 220bhp. That means, it’s 32bhp and 72bhp more powerful than the regular Kodiaq. Transmission on offer will be a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) unit. The sportier SUV will be available with both front and all-four-wheel drive system.
